All: Three Classes of Resurrection
Following “The Lost Gospel Revealed”
“Gospel” means ‘good news.’ We think in terms of ‘the Gospel’ but there really are two gospels, a gospel of Christians and a gospel of Jews. The gospel of Christians says that only believers in Jesus will be rewarded with heaven while all others are condemned to burning torment for eternity. The gospel of the Jews is far more inclusive; their gospel says that all who ever lived will be resurrected back to the flesh and judged by the Law. Both of these gospels have aspects that are correct and incorrect, yet each understanding is quite incomplete without the other. It takes parts of both understandings to make the Full Gospel.
Christians received their gospel from the Catholic church. Jews received their gospel from Abraham and the prophets. Jesus himself never disputed the gospel of the Jews preached to Abraham, that all would be resurrected, judged and blessed. But Jesus also taught that only those born again would experience a spiritual resurrection. These two gospels aren’t contradictory at all. They harmonize perfectly with each other and both are scriptural.
The Jews didn’t accept Jesus so they never learned of the Christian gospel. And Christians for the most part denigrated Judaism and rejected the Jewish gospel. But in order to rightly divide the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15), we must accept the fact that both the Christian and Jewish gospels are two sides to the same coin. Both are to be accepted. Both are taught by Jesus, James, Peter and Paul.
Remember what Paul said about the Full Gospel that he preached:
Galatians 1:8. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to that which we preached to you, let him be accursed. 9. As we have said before, so now I say again, If any one is preaching to you a gospel contrary to that which you received, let him be accursed.
Those who believe only one side or the other of the gospel are accursed in that they may be saved from the wrath to come, but they miss out on the blessings of the side of the Full Gospel that they don’t know about or believe. The lack of a blessing is automatically a curse. We, who desire the truth want to know the Complete Gospel, want the full blessing of the resurrection and want to teach others, even if propagating truth makes us the target of scoffers.
Completing the Gospel
Do you know where the gospel is found in the Old Testament? Among many places, look at
Genesis 22: 15. And the angel of Yahweh called to Abraham from heaven, 16. and said, "By myself I have sworn, because you have not withheld your son, 17. I will bless you, and I will multiply your descendants as the stars of heaven and as the sand on the seashore. And your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies, 18. and by your descendants shall all the nations of the earth bless themselves, because you have obeyed my voice." (RSV)
One of the first things you may notice is that there are two classes of descendants of Abraham – those who are like the stars in heaven and those like the sand on the shore – those who are heaven bound and those who are earthbound. You may also notice that this gospel passage involves two distinct people groups: (1) descendants of Abraham, and (2) all nations. The ‘descendents,’ like the stars of heaven and the sands of the shore, will bless ‘all the nations.’ To decode this passage in terms of the resurrection of the dead, those descendants of Abraham who are resurrected to heaven along with those who are resurrected to earth will both serve Yahweh by blessing all the nations. This is the true, full gospel.
Paul affirms that Abraham was given the gospel in this passage:
Galatians 3:8. And it was because scripture foresaw that God would give saving justice to the nations (eqnoi) through faith, that it announced the future gospel to Abraham in the words: All nations (eqnoi) will be blessed in you. 9. So it is people of faith (as well as flesh) who receive the same blessing as Abraham, the man of faith.
He further explains the passage here:
Galatians 3: 29. And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise.
What is the promise? That Abraham’s descendants will and do bless all other people. If what Paul is saying about the gospel is true, and that those who are in Yahshua (cristoV) are also Abraham’s descendents, then it is Yahweh’s purpose and plan to eventually bless all people, both the living and the dead. That’s what ‘all’ means in Galatians 3:8.
Incorruptible and Corruptible
So now we find that the Complete Gospel entails a harmony of both Jewish and Christian gospels; that those who are resurrected to spiritual bodies will bless those who are resurrected to physical bodies who will, in turn, bless all the inghabitants of the earth.
1 Corinthians 15: 35. But some one will ask, "How are the dead raised? With what kind of body do they come?" 36. You foolish man! What you sow does not come to life unless it dies. ... 48. As was the man of dust, so are those who are of the dust; and as is the man of heaven, so are those who are of heaven.
Clearly, those who are spiritually alive through the new birth will be resurrected to incorruptible spiritual bodies; those who had been naturally born out of a womb will be resurrected to corruptible physical bodies. (This second group is still capable of dying again; the Bible calls this possibility the second death.) Both types of resurrection are required to fulfill the Scripture. Both Jesus and Paul, the founders of our faith, teach both types of resurrection. But 90% of our Christian teachers today go against the Scriptures and teach only a spiritual resurrection to heaven for born again believers only. They teach that the rest go to heck. Listen again:
But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to that which we preached to you, let him be accursed.
As a teacher of the Bible, this is a curse I will never receive because I teach in accordance with the whole council of Abraham, Yahshua and Paul rather than the incomplete, exclusive gospel of most evangelical churches. It was always Yahweh’s intention to remove the curse of Cain rather than radify it!
Classes and Resurrection
Next we look to the head of the Jerusalem Assembly, Yahshua’s brother James (Yahkov). He further clarifies the need for scriptural harmony in regard to these two salvations by resurrection:
Acts 15:13b James: “Brethren, listen to me. 14. Simeon has related how God first visited the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name. [These are the ‘born from above’ in the name of Yahweh, the heavenly generation.]
15. And with this the words of the prophets agree, as it is written, 16. ‘After this I will return, and I will rebuild the dwelling of David, which has fallen; I will rebuild its ruins, and I will set it up, [This refers to the earthly seed, those who revere the Law of Yahweh and are natural descendents of Abraham]
17. that the rest of men may seek Yahweh [These men are the residual of humankind who neither were ‘born from above’ nor followed the Law]...’”
And herein we see three classes. We see those of the Kingdom of Heaven, born from above, who are to bless the nation of Israel, which (in turn) is to bless all other nations of the world (Luke 22:28-30 and many OT passages in regards to Israel blessing the nations). (See also 1 Timothy 4:10: “...we trust in the Living El who is the Savior of all, but especially those who believe.”)
There are three classes and three resurrection stages. The first resurrection is for those who are “born from above,” brought back to life to spiritual bodies, like the angels, to judge all the others. The fact is, those of the first resurrection never actually died except to the flesh. The second stage of resurrecting is for all Israel, resurrected back to flesh to serve Yahweh under King Yahshua (Jesus). Finally all who ever lived will be resurrected to physical bodies upon the earth to be judged.
The Revelator saw this third stage of resurrection in his vision:
Revelation 20:12. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Also another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, by what they had done. 13. And the sea gave up the dead in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead in them, and all were judged by what they had done.
And here is what Paul spoke concerning this to the Athenians on Mars’ Hill:
Acts 17:31. Because Yahweh (v. 27) hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.
As death to the human race came through Adam, life comes by Yahshua. Everything lost may be restored for those who eventually will believe in Yahshua.
1 Corinthians 15:20. But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21. For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. 22. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.
Look at this. Plainly it says that all die. We know this is a fact. In the same sentence it says all will be made alive. Is this a different all then the last? The same all that died will come alive, in one form or another.
Here is the assurance of salvation offered to a post-resurrection world -- a world where Yahshua is King and where everyone who ever lived is alive to see it. Most have the erroneous idea that Yahweh has the human race right now on trial with the alternative of being born again or the alternative of eternal torture – eternal torture even for those who’ve never heard of him. There is not even a hint of this idea in scripture. The penalty for sin is not eternal torture, but second death (Revelation 2:11, 20:6, 20:14, 21:8). Death means the end of life; death does not mean eternal life in torture.
If Yahshua died for all (2 Corinthians 5:15), then all must also receive the opportunities and blessings promised through Abraham back in the beginning – for the believer first, then for Israel, then for the nations. Resurrection is the hope of religion, and Yahweh’s plan includes all humankind, both on the earth and buried in the earth. That’s why those who have died are called prisoners of hope (Zechariah 9:11,12).
What I teach about death and resurrection is Biblical and is the Full Gospel – both sides of the coin – both Testaments. Some have erroneously said that I teach that all people get a second chance no matter how they lived this life. But that isn’t true. What I teach is that everyone who ever lived gets a first chance. That aborted child is resurrected to get a first chance. That Hindu who tried to live a good life but never heard the gospel is resurrected to get a first chance. That cave woman who knew only the cruel primitive life with its spirits and superstitions is resurrected to get a first chance. And those who had a first chance already will be judged by the law, administered by those who have experienced the first and second stages of resurrection. Now that’s what the Bible says, and it makes perfect sense.
What is Yahweh doing today? First let’s say the ultimate goal is to bring all humanity into a right relationship with himself. This is one reason why evil is allowed to have full sway on earth. He is culling out overcomers of evil, “visiting the Gentiles to call out a people in his name” (Acts 15:14). He is seeking people who have endured and won out against evil to be his agents of restitution, resurrection and justice in the Millennium kingdom.
Revelation 20:6 Blessed and holy is he who shares in the first resurrection! Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and they shall reign with him a thousand years.
Such will bring the blessings of the generations of Abraham to the people of the earth. When overcomers reign, then “the residue of men will seek after Yahweh” (Acts 15:17).
John 5:25. "Truly, truly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live. 26. For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself, 27. and has given him authority to execute judgment, because he is the Son of man. 28. Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear his voice 29. and come forth, those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of judgment."
When will this all happen? All prophecies of the Bible indicate that we are living in the last of the last days of the ‘gospel age.’ The last hundred years have been times of unprecedented trouble, and world war looms largely right now (Feb, 2003). But here’s more good news from an old source:
Haggai 2:6,7 For thus says the Yahweh Tsaviot; Yet in a little while I will shake the heavens, the earth, the sea and the dry land; And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory.
