Dogs in the Lab

Jackson Snyder, August 19, 2001

Friends, every one of us is appointed a time to die, and Yahweh knows exactly when that time is.  By his grace, you and I, foreigners, have been awarded a special trial period – 70 years or so of choices, of rebellions, of restarts, of retirements, of reassessments, of reconnoitering, of repentance.  Your Father gives you yet another opportunity to make an exciting new choice today: to commit your life to the words of the Almighty Yahweh Sabaoth.

Purchase Biblical Demonology at GLOWsister Mat 15:21. Yahshua left that place and withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon.  22. And suddenly out came a Canaanite woman from that district and started shouting, "Lord, Son of David, take pity on me. My daughter is tormented by a devil."  23. But he said not a word in answer to her. And his disciples went and pleaded with him, saying, "Give her what she wants, because she keeps shouting after us."  24. He said in reply, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of the House of Israel."  25. But the woman had come up and was bowing low before him. "Lord," she said, "help me."  26. He replied, "It is not fair to take the children's food and throw it to little dogs."  27. She retorted, "Ah yes, Lord; but even little dogs eat the scraps that fall from their masters' table."  28. Then Yahshua answered her, "Woman, you have great faith. Let your desire be granted." And from that moment her daughter was well again.

I recall three times when Yahshua ventured outside of what was considered to be Israel.  Today’s story relates to one of those times.  He and his disciples travel to Phoenicia, up north of Israel.  There they meet a Canaanite woman.  She is a descendent of one of the tribes that Israel battled for the Promised Land.  She was not a worshiper of Yahweh; she worshipped idols.  Yahshua’s people called those outside of the commonwealth of Israel “dogs” – like us calling a Japanese person a “Jap.”    Yahshua said that he wasn’t sent to foreigners, only to Israelis.

Yet this old dog knew Yahshua by reputation and had seen his miracle-working power in action.  She knew he could cast the demon out of her daughter.  She was persistent enough to drive the disciples crazy.  They asked Yahshua if he would address her need because she was an annoyance.  Yahshua healed her daughter not because she was a pest, but because she had great faith.  And though she was an idolater, she came around to Yahshua’s way of thinking then Yahshua came around to her’s.

Foreigners Have Four Conditions

We identify with this woman.  Though we can’t be sure, we are probably not of the “House of Israel.” We too are Canaanites and foreigners.  We don’t deserve anything from Yahweh.  However, foreigners may have a place in the Kingdom of Heaven and share its wonderful benefits under certain conditions.  Yahweh declares our conditional inclusion through the prophet Isaiah:

Is 56: 6. As for foreigners who adhere to Yahweh to serve him, to love Yahweh's name and become his servants, all who observe the Sabbath, not profaning it, and cling to my covenant:  7. these I shall lead to my holy mountain and make them joyful in my house of prayer.

Casting Out Demons is a perfect read for youThis prophecy pertains not only to the Invisible Kingdom now, but also to the future Kingdom of the Messiah on earth.  Yahshua will return in the name of his Father Yahweh to set all injustice aright and institute Law and peace on earth.  We foreigners may be included in the coming kingdom under three specific conditions.  We must:  (1) Adhere to the name of Yahweh in word and service, (2) Observe the Sabbath,  (3) Keep the Covenant.  Fulfilling these conditions will allow a foreigner to be led up the holy mountain and into the joyful house of prayer in the New Jerusalem – the Word promises it.

When he walked the earth in flesh, Yahshua fulfilled these conditions in order to give us foreigners an example of how to enter the Kingdom of Messiah.  One of these conditions we already observe to the best of our ability.  We cling to the Covenant – that the blood of Yahshua will empower us to live righteously.  And we trust him to provide us with teachers of the truth so that we may abandon our way and see his way more clearly. As covenant-clingers, Messiahians, we don’t knowingly commit evil, do we?  No.  We want to please him by obeying him and heeding the voice of his prophet.

The Name and The Sabbath

But what should we do with the other two requirement presented to ‘foreigners’: serving in the name of Yahweh and observing the Sabbath?  Let me teach you something about Yahshua.  He said he had come in his Father’s name.  In Yahshua’ language, his Father’s name is Yah-weh and his name is Yah-shua, which means Yahweh Saves.  He said he came in his Father’s name because he had his Father’s name!  The poetic form of the sacred name is Yah.  Most Messiahians don’t know the proper name of their Savior or their Elohim, although they often proclaim Hallelu-yah.  But correct knowledge of his name is essential if we are to adhere to his name.  We use the word “Elohim” as the Creator’s proper name, but it isn’t.  How can we do anything in his name if we don’t know it?  His name is Yahweh.  If we learn his name, then we will have power in his name.  Don’t be afraid to call on Yahweh – he created your kind and he certainly knows your name.

The other requirement for foreigners is observing the Sabbath.  I struggled with the Sabbath for many years.  At first I thought that Sunday was the Sabbath.  I didn’t mow the grass on Sunday – I thought it was a sin.  Soon I learned from a pastor that Saturday is the true Sabbath.  He told me that the Roman Catholic Church changed the Sabbath to Sunday to distance the Church from the Jews.  I studied and learned that the pastor was right.  But I thought I could keep any day I chose -- that would be OK.  But I never got around to choosing!  Besides, Yahweh had already chosen the day.  Is my authority greater than his?  Later I figured that Sabbath observance had passed away with the spiritual gifts.  Then I read in the Bible that the Sabbath would never pass away.

Listen to what Yahweh says about his Sabbaths as recorded in

Exo 31:13 exp.  "Say to the people, 'You shall keep my Sabbaths, for this is a sign between me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I, Yahweh, sanctify you.  14. … Six days shall work be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, holy to me … 16.  Therefore the people shall keep the Sabbath, observing the Sabbath throughout their generations, as a perpetual covenant. ’”

Defeating Dark Angels - the best book of its kindScripture is clear that the seventh day of the week is the Sabbath and that it is to be observed forever.  Who are we foreigners to say that it‘s some other day or no day?  In fact, Sabbath-keeping is a sign of sanctification through all generations – the Bible says so right here, and I believe it.

Would you ask, “Preacher, are you trying to make Jews out of us?”  The answer is, no.  I’m trying to scrape the corrosion off the plain and shining truth of your precious Bible.  Isn’t that what you want?  Of course you do.  Preserving the anti-Semitism of the early Church is not reason enough to tempt Yahweh and void his Word.  Teachers of the Bible will be judged strictly.  I’m ready for judgment.

So am I telling you it’s wrong to have church on Sunday?  No, you must worship Yahweh every day of your life – he is your Creator – your fate is in his hands.  Am I saying that we are to observe the Sabbath on Saturday in addition to church on Sunday, doing no works that day except good works?  Not exactly: I am saying that you must fervently pray to Yahweh and study his Word about the matter.  You’ll get your answer soon enough and when you do, Yahshua will make a way for you to fulfill his commandment.  And you will be blessed later for being a commandment keeper.

The Nazarene Acts
of the Apostles

Also known as
The Recognitions of Clement

Ever wonder why PAUL and not PETER received the mission to the lost tribes?  Wasn't Peter the stone upon which the "church" was to be built?  In this new translation of the Nazarene Acts, we follow Kefa (Peter) as he itinerates from Jerusalem and up the Mediterranean coast up to Tripoli, as recorded in the journals of his successor, Clement of Rome (Phi 4:3).  Every message Kefa preached, the company he kept, and the great works of faith the the Almighty accomplished through him are herein recorded.  This 300 page volume has been 'hidden' in the back of an obscure volume of the "Church Fathers" all this time.  Could it be that, in establishing the Gentile 'church' by pushing away from Judaism, this history was purposely hidden?

We Think We Are the Tree Trunk!

We Messiahians today believe that we are a law unto ourselves; we call ourselves The Glorious Church of Elohim.  But that is not the case.  Truth is we are foreigners like this Canaanite woman, not even knowing the name of our Elohim, begging him entry into Spiritual Israel.  We are not an entity unto ourselves, but a wild shoot grafted into the eternal trunk of the olive tree Israel.  We must become Israelis.  Hear what Paul, a citizen of the world, says concerning the “Church of Elohim”:

Rom 11: 17. Now suppose that … you are a wild olive shoot grafted among the rest to share … the rich sap of the olive tree; 18. then it is not for you to consider yourself superior … and if you start feeling proud, think: it is not you that sustain the root, but the root that sustains you.  … 22. Remember Yahweh's … severity to those who fell, and his goodness to you as long as you persevere in it; if not, you too will be cut off.

Now the olive tree is Israel.  So Paul’s word is contrary to our ideas.  We always heard that Israel will be grafted into the Church in the end-times.  But Paul says it’s us foreigners who have to be grafted into Israel.  And our continued hope of salvation is solely dependent on both His grace and our efforts in keeping the dictates of his Word, which he gave to Israel first.  All the prophets of Yahweh were Israelites, as were the Apostles and Evangelists every one.  Yahshua / Yahshua is a Jew!  There is absolutely no getting around it; we must be grafted into Israel, not Israel into the Church.

I heard about two men talking on the streets of Jerusalem one day.  One was a young Messiahian evangelist.  The other was an old Jewish teacher (rabbi).  The young evangelist was pretty puffed up; Bible school had taught him how to convert Elohimless Jews.  He said to the rabbi, “Sir, what are you going to do when the Messiah comes down and you see that he’s our Yahshua?  The Rabbi was quick to respond, “And what are you going to do, sir, when your Yahshua descends in a rabbi’s robes and calls himself Yahshua ben Yahweh?”  The exchange is indicative of the religious tension between Israelis and grafted-in foreigners like the evangelist.  Although Jews accept the possibility that the Messiah could be Yahshua, Messiahians reject the possibility that Yahweh’s Word is binding on them!

Power in the Millennial Kingdom

With all this in mind, let’s take a glimpse into the future, when the Messiah reigns.  What will the world look like?  The following passage describes the time right after the final world war over Jerusalem:

Zech 14: 9b When that Day comes, Yahweh will be the one and only and his name the one name. 10. The entire country will be transformed into plain … but Jerusalem will stand high in her place and be full of people…  11. … The curse of destruction will be lifted; Jerusalem will be safe to live in.   16. After this, all the survivors of all the nations which attacked Jerusalem will come up to worship the King, Yahweh Sabaoth, and to keep the feast of Tabernacles year after year.  20. When that Day comes, the very bells on the horses will be inscribed with the words, "Sacred to Yahweh."

This is a wonderful vision.  Jerusalem will be safe and full of people after the terrible war, because Yahweh himself will be the Sovereign Majesty.  “Yahweh Sabaoth” means “commander of troops.”  His troops will defeat the armies of the world.  Then they’ll enforce Yahweh’s Law found in the Scriptures throughout the entire world.  His armies will have the power, because they will be Yahweh’s deputies.  And though the nations that warred at Armageddon will remain, but they will be forced to observe the Law, the Sabbath and the Feast of Tabernacles.  All will then know Yahweh’s name for his name will be the only name.  And he’ll make all things sacred in his name for those who adhere to his covenant.

Some Messiahians have the audacity to believe that the Church will rule and reign as Yahweh’s Army during this time.  Isn’t that what we hear taught -- that Yahshua will to rapture off the Church to meet him in the air?  And that the Church will be the cloud of witnesses that will set the world straight and rule for a thousand years?  And that the Church will be kings and priests forever after the order of Melchizedek?  And that the Church will judge angels?

Life a Learning Lab

If this is so, why isn’t the Church concerned about what the Bible says will constitute Law and Order then?  Sure, we want to know how the nations will line up, who the Beast and AntiMessiahs are and unravel Mystery Babylon.  But if, in the Reign of Messiah, we the Church are to be deputies, shouldn’t we know our commander’s name now?  His name is Yahweh Sabaoth.  If we are to become judges then, shouldn’t we know the Law now?  The law is found in Exodus 20 and following.  If we are to become priests then, shouldn’t we know the Feasts now?  The Feasts are described in Leviticus 23.  If we are to teach the nations then, shouldn’t we first heed the three biblical conditions for foreigners to enter the Kingdom?  Or do we think there’ll be a crash course on the way up the rapture?

Friends, our time to learn is NOW.  That’s what this life is for – it’s a learning laboratory.  Like the Canaanite woman, you and I are dogs in the lab.  We don’t deserve Yahweh in the first place, but we are fortunately being offered advanced training in the academy of true holiness.  Our Schoolmaster allows us great latitude in the learning lab -- we may choose to be slothful, lazy and unheeding students, or we may choose to be deceived by the audacious claims of some church, or we may choose to be studious in our disciplines in preparation for what the Bible calls “the first resurrection.”

Resurrections

Listen to what John the Revelator says about those who are in the first resurrection:

Rev 20:4. I saw the souls of all who [died]witnessing for Yahshua and preaching Yahweh's word, and those who refused to worship the beast … they came [back] to life.  Then I saw thrones, where they took their seats, and on them was conferred the power to judge and they reigned with Messiah for a thousand years. 6. Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection … they will be priests of Elohim and of Messiah and reign  … for a thousand years.

The first resurrection is for kings, priests and judges who have lived by and learned the Law of Yahweh during their natural lives.  Brought to life are the elect, the cream of the crop, the chosen of all nations – that includes foreigners.  These of the first resurrection made calculated decisions for Yahweh in their natural lives that may not have been popular and may have led to their deaths.  They were weirdoes in the world, but now they have the grandest of all rewards. Paul calls this “a better resurrection” and he hopes to attain to it.

For there is another resurrection for those who are saved but have not prepared for positions of leadership in the Millennial Kingdom.   The resurrection of nominal Messiahians is described in Rev 20:5: “The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were over.”  Saved people who are unprepared to rule and reign with Messiah miss out on the wonderful Millennium experience altogether.  They go to Heaven all right, but they miss the blessed Millennium on earth, for they were only prepared for a leisurely eternity in mansions of glorious ease with ma and pa who went on before.

We drove through Stapleton yesterday to find a new church building there.  On the marquee were the words, “Tired of religion?  Follow us!”  Today I invite you to follow a new path to truth, to soar higher in the atmosphere of the Word and the Spirit, to gain a greater understanding of His holy plan for the future and your part in it.  I’m tired of religion too.  I challenge you to know Yahweh Sabaoth, to do good in his name, to follow his Son’s New Covenant, to consume his holy Word, to hallow his Sabbaths, to obey his Laws, to learn his righteousness, and to make the cut into the First Resurrection.  Amen.
