 “Don’t overlook the obvious”

Apostasy: “Abandonment of one’s religious faith, a political party, one’s principles, or a cause.”   Apostasy: “A falling away,” KJV.

Psalms 83: Against the enemies of Israel: Song Psalm Of Asaph: 1. Elohim, do not remain silent, do not stay quiet or unmoved, Elohim! 2. See how your enemies are in uproar, how those who hate you are rearing their heads. 3. They are laying plans against your people, conspiring against those you cherish; 4. they say, “Come, let us annihilate them as a nation, the name of Israel shall be remembered no more!” 5. They conspire with a single mind, they conclude an alliance against you, 6. the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagrites, 7. Gebal, Ammon, Amalek, Philistia and the Tyrians; 8. even Assyria has joined them to reinforce the children of Lot.  Selah.

   9. Treat them like Midian and Sisera, like Jabin at the river Kishon; 10. wiped out at En-Dor, they served to manure the ground. 11. Treat their leaders like Oreb and Zeeb, all their commanders like Zebah and Zalmunna, 12. for they said, “Let us take for ourselves Yahweh’s settlements.”
   13. My Elohim, treat them like thistledown, like chaff at the mercy of the wind.  14. As fire devours a forest, as a flame sets mountains ablaze, 15. so drive them away with your tempest, by your whirlwind fill them with terror.  16. Shame written all over their faces, let them seek your name, Yahweh!  17. Dishonour and terror be always theirs, death also and destruction.  18. Let them know that you alone bear the name of Yahweh, Most High over all the earth.

Matthew 16:3b. “You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times.

Luke 21:24b.  Jerusalem will be trodden down by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

Luke 21:32.  Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away till all has taken place.

Matthew 21:28.  What do you think? A man had two sons; and he went to the first and said, ‘Son, go and work in the vineyard today.’  29.  And he answered, ‘I will not’; but afterward he repented and went.  30.  And he went to the second and said the same; and he answered, ‘I go, sir,’ but did not go.  31.  Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Truly, I say to you, the tax collectors and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.  32.  For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the harlots believed him; and even when you saw it, you did not afterward repent and believe him.

In this second installment of “The Seeing Generation,” we’ll reveal the identity of he who is called “the man of lawlessness” by St. Paul and “the false prophet” by St. John.  This isn’t such a difficult task if we make sure not to overlook the obvious.  But first, let’ review a little of what we studied last so we can again get a sense of our moment in salvation history.

Christians of all ages since the first have understood their generation to be the last before the return of Yahweh to rule over the united earth.  Consider again the words of St. John in his first letter:

1 John 2:18.  Children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come; therefore we know that it is the last hour.

In the previous installment, we pointed out that it’s been the last hour all this time since John spoke these words, through the lives of countless generations.  But in the past, the essential biblical signs of the Messiah’s coming haven’t been present – especially the fulfillments of two integral predictions Yahshua makes about his return; they are, the “signs of the times” (or “of the calendar,” Matthew 16:3) and “the end of the times of the Gentiles” (or “the sign of Jerusalem,” Luke 21:24).  In our day, these signs have been clearly posted and studied – with a few coming to the conclusion that Messiah could really be “at the door” in our day – maybe even through the door.

We outlined that, like the seven-day creation, salvation history as recorded in the Bible consists of seven prophetic days of a thousand years each.  The Bible only deals with seven thousand years, no more, no less.  The 7th and final thousand-year stretch is the Millennium mentioned in Revelation 20:4.  Messiah is back here then to reign for that last thousand years of salvation history before presenting a perfected earth to his Father.  We discovered that over 6000 years have passed since Adam’s generation; and that our generation is living at the beginning of the last thousand-year period.  According to the calendar, the Millennium is just about now.

We determined that Yahshua’s other major prophecy was recently fulfilled; that is, the year that ended Gentile rule over Jerusalem (Luke 21:24).

Luke 21:24b.  Jerusalem will be trodden down by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

Jerusalem was liberated in the course of the Six Day War in 1967, the only time Jerusalem has been free since Yahshua prophesied.  The events of 1967 prove it to be an anchor year for the next of Yahshua’s prophecies.  He promised that the generation living to see Jerusalem liberated would also live to “see it all,” speaking of the events leading to his second coming.  And, in our generation, we’ve had the opportunity to see them all come to pass.

We determined that a prophetic generation may be 40 years in length – the time period the generation of Israel sojourned in the desert.  If a 40-year generation is added to the anchor year of 1967, we get 2007 AD as a red-letter year – maybe the year of the Second Coming.  That means we could be living right now at the very “event horizon” of forever.  Of course, we might ask the question, “If we’re living in the Millennium – then where IS the Messiah?  Show him to me!”  I’m sorry.  I just can’t.

However, we found that throughout Scripture Yahshua and his disciples proclaimed that the Second Coming would be as a thief in the night.  The white-robed messengers of Acts 1:10,11 told the faithful few that Messiah would descend in the same way he ascended – to the little flock in the secret place.  In the meantime, he’d be preparing the little flock for his coming, teaching them to work and watch in expectation and faith.  I can’t show him to you – he can only show himself.  But when he does, you muct be ready to catch the thief in the night.  Are you ready?

So mightn’t we refrain from asking, “Where IS he?” and ask instead, “Where AM I?  Is my mind open?  Can I put aside my preconceived notions?  Am I preparing?  Will I hear what the Spirit is saying through this man behind the pulpit today?”  What the man is saying is this:

A common sense approach to understanding where we are in salvation history ought to be enough to convince anyone to, at very least, prepare.  No one could’ve known what devastation hurricane Ivan was bringing, but nary a soul wasn’t warned of Ivan’s approach!  If you want to be prepared, then be prepared first for the obvious!

There are many other obvious signs.  Let me reveal another to you – the mystery of the “man of lawlessness” or “the false prophet”: ¿who is he, when did he appear and where is he working today?

A New Sign

We’re informed that in the centuries leading up to Messiah, there’d arise a man of lawlessness, a son of perdition (destruction), a false prophet and many antichrists (Revelation 16:13, etc.) leading entire generations astray before Messiah returns to set all aright.  This movement away from true worship has been called “The Great Falling Away,” and is based in the words of St. Paul from

2 Thessalonians 2:1-5 (JSB – read in the course of the message).  1, 2. We ask, brethren, that you not be quickly shaken up in mind or disturbed by the presence of the Sovereign Yahshua Messiah and of us gathering to him, by a spirit or a word or a letter by us, that the Day of Yahweh is come.  3. Let not anyone deceive you, by no means: unless the falling away comes first, and the man of lawlessness, the son of destruction, is revealed.  4. [He is] the one opposing and exalting himself over all spoken of [as] a god or an idol– so far as to sit himself in the shrine of the god – showing that he is a god.  (This is a literal translation from the Nestle Greek Bible.)

Popular Bible teachers would make simpletons of us by having us believe that “the great falling away” is in the future, and that the Temple in Jerusalem must first be rebuilt so that the man of lawlessness can sit in there and rule the earth as G-d.  But because some teachers rely on faulty Bible translations, they have unwittingly caused “a falling away” themselves.

Notice St. Paul says that before the Messiah comes, three things must first happen:

  • firstly, an apostasy, or a “falling away,” from the faith first delivered,
  • a revealing of the man of lawlessness, who is described as a terrorist (a “son of perdition” or “son of destruction”)
  • and that the man of lawlessness will masquerade as a godly personage and enshrine himself.

Consider History

Now consider history.  There have been many “fallings away.”  But where would the first great apostasy be – the one Paul might be prophesying about?  We answer that question by asking another: “Where was the first great mission field?  Where were Yahshua’s apostles sent?”  St. James answers this question in the salutation of his letter: “to the twelve tribes in the dispersion” (James 1:1).  Where was the dispersion?

History informs us that, after Israel, the disciples went west – to Egypt, Ethiopia, and northern Africa; and to the north and east – to Lebanon, Turkey, Syria, Arabia, Iraq, Iran, Armenia, even Pakistan – to the Jews and the tribes of Israel inhabiting those nations, which became ancient strongholds of true worship, for Yahshua sent his own to them.  He’d anointed his apostles to preach with signs and wonders following.

These nations, now known as the Muslim Block, were the first great mission fields for the first great missionaries.  History tells us that entire kingdoms were converted to the Apostolic faith, even within the lifetimes of the Apostles.  Still today, all these generations later, there are assemblies therein that trace their beginnings to the very first.  Even the holy book of Islam, the Quran, reminds us that the brothers of Yahshua evangelized from Damascus to Arabia, then beyond Babylon.  (This according to Robert Eisenman.)

Submission

These nations are certainly not Christian now; they’re virulently antichristian.  What caused them to apostatize, to “fall away”?  In the five hundred years after the founders of their assemblies died, their original fervor gradually degraded, and these first assemblies fell into false teaching, apathy and abandonment – they became like the assembly at Sardis.  Yahshua told that church,

Revelation 3:1b,2. “I know your works; you have the name of being alive, and you are dead.  Awake, and strengthen what remains ...  If you will not awaken, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come upon you.”

In the “dark ages” of the lands of dispersion, time was ripe for a new prophetic voice.  And a new prophet did indeed appear on the scene that would awaken nations and change the whole world for centuries thereafter.

A new star arose in Arabia at the end of the sixth century – the prophet Mohammad (570-632), a fearless evangelist who claimed to have received sanction from Moses and Jesus to correct what the Bible said of them, though he could neither read nor write.  Nevertheless, Mohammad’s message claimed that the Mosaic Law was forged and that Yahshua couldn’t be a son of G-d.  In fact, Mohammad promoted his family’s stone idol – namely, Allah – whose spirit spoke to him at times in the form of a serpent.

I have no doubt that Mohammad seriously believed in his revelation – which became known as Islam, meaning “submission.”  But besides his family and circle of disciples, nobody much else believed his claims – certainly not the Jews or Christians in Arabia.

The Son of Elohim

At first Mohammad affirmed many of the beliefs we now hold in regards to the Messiah – that he was born of a virgin, that he was a prophet in the footsteps of Moses, that he had the words of eternal life, that he died and ascended, and that he would return to judge.  But Mohammad was also very specific about the relationships between Allah, Yahshua and the Christians.  Mohammad said (and Muslims believe) these words from their Holy Book, the Quran:

[Christians] say that [God] (the Beneficent) has taken Himself a son.  Assuredly, you utter a disastrous thing.  Thereby, the heavens are almost torn, the earth is split asunder and the mountains fall in ruins. You ascribe to [God] a son when it is not appropriate for [God] to choose a son. (Mariam 88 -93)  They [Christians] call Yahshua the son of [God].  ... [God’s] curse upon them (Sura at-taubah, 30).

The religion known as “Submission” denies the Father and Son, and believes that anyone who affirms the Son is cursed.  Do you see?  Let’s defer to St. John regarding this word; he writes:  This is antichrist: Whoever denies the Son cannot have the Father either; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.  If all Mohammad stated prophetically was that Yahshua wasn’t the son of Yahweh, he would qualify as an antichrist.  And, Mohammad is an antichrist.  For today, fourteen hundred years later, his antichristian fervor is still at a fever pitch, and the spirit of antichrist is at war with the whole world.

Mohammad-style Evangelism = Submission by Terrorism

Mohammad and his disciples didn’t make many converts early on.  The dragon spirit Allah was very upset about this and gave Mohammad a new revelation: make disciples any way you can – do it by force – do it by blood – do it by blackmail – do it by betrayal – do it by terror – offer booty to those who’ll convert: stolen goods, lands, houses, women, children – kill anyone who won’t submit.  Christians and Jews are no longer exempt – they’re no better than pagans.

With smoky breath, Allah whispered to Mohammad,

Fight and slay (them) [i.e. pagans] wherever you find them, seize them, beleaguer them, lie in wait for them.  Fight those who believe not in Allah and his apostle, nor acknowledge the religion of truth ... until they pay with willing submission, and find themselves enslaved (Sura 9:29).

This “terror evangelism” was very successful.  Mohammad went from false prophet and antichrist to a “son of perdition,” the biblical term for “terrorist.”  Banding with likeminded relatives, thugs and assassins, he went forth to take the gospel of “Submission” throughout Arabia.  Ill-gotten gains would go to those who’d submit, and the chain of slavery or sword to those who wouldn’t.  New converts to Islam not only became religious, but rich in plunder, hoping for even greater riches in Allah’s lusty heaven.

After Islam’s premier terror cell’s first few forays against helpless victims, the new religion began to spread fast – armed conflict literally stole peace from the world and brought the sword overnight – first to Arabia, then throughout the Middle East, to all of Africa, to Spain and finally to Europe, as far north as Vienna.  And today, for 1.2 billion people, Allah is great.  The prophet and his words are enshrined in outposts the world over, even upon Mount Moriah, where once the temple of Yahweh stood.  Now Allah is the god of this world and Mohammad is his prophet.

The False Prophet

Yahshua tells us that prior to his return there’ll be wild weather, deadly fear, and worldwide terror.  St. John saw bloody, global conflicts stirred-up by a dragon-god through the demonic hordes of a false prophet – he testified that the blood of saints of all ages would be upon them.

Revelation 16: 13.  And I saw, issuing from the mouth(s) of the dragon, the beast and the false prophet, three foul spirits like frogs; 14.  for they are demonic spirits, performing signs, who go abroad to the kings of the whole world, to assemble them for battle on the great day of Yahweh.  ... 16.  And they assembled them at the place called Armageddon.  (What does this all mean?)

The false prophet is he who takes terror to all world rulers, inciting them to gather their armies into Armageddon – that is, Megiddo in Israel.  Megiddo was, in very ancient times, the crossroads of the nations – many battles were fought there for control of the world’s economic prosperity.  Whoever held Megiddo in olden days held the financial resources of all.

Isn’t this exactly what Usama bin Laden told us about Islamic holy war on one of his tapes?  He warned that the hordes of Islam would consume the economic resources of its enemies.  That’s how terrorists plan to rule the earth – by depleting the capital of the nations.  As in the beginning, when a few Islamic raiders would steal into an unprotected camp at night to kill, pilfer and make disciples, so it is today – with suicide and car bombs, mortars and weapons of mass destruction – and all in the name of Allah and Mohammad his prophet.

Mohammad is Dead?

Who’s to deny that the false prophet of Revelation, the man of sin in Thessalonians, the Antichrist in 1 John, is Mohammad?  You might ask, “Mohammad is dead, isn’t he?  How can he still be the false prophet?”  Here’s how – foul spirits like frogs poured out of his mouth to visit the nations.  These aren’t little demons – they’re occult monsters that multiply fast.  And they’ve had plenty of free time.  Now there’re millions of croaking frogs chirping desperately away, especially on Friday nights, from mosques and minarets around the globe.  From such rantings, thousands of recruits are mustered and acts of terror manifested.  We hear of them every single day.

But the real prophet – the true prophet – promises that, when he comes, the first thing he’ll do is cast these frogs – the dragon, the beast, the false prophet, all their minions, all their terror, all their terrorist, and anyone who follows them, into the Lake of Fire at the bottom of Tophet’s soot-blackened ditch.  From that soon-coming day, no one will henceforth hear their miserable croakings.  They will be in the state of perdition.

Extremism, Martyrdom and a Riddle

Need I tell the seeing generation that Islam is the greatest religion in the world – that one out of six follow the false prophet?  Islam is also the fastest growing religion in the world, even in the US and Europe.  There are seven million Muslims in the US, twenty million in Europe, and fifty-five nations in The Organisation of Islamic States.  Muslim theocrats are putting heavy pressure on governments, especially those of Europe, where they’re a significant and unstable minority.  Here, they’re buying land.

Let’s remember that we can be activists – we can actively watch, wait, pray, be ready and win out in love.  We must compassionately recall that Muslims are under a very strong cultural, national and religious delusion; most have been coerced to believe and act as they do.  The vast majority don’t take part in the acts of perdition that fill our front pages.

Yet consider a statement by the Muslim-American activist, Kamal Nawash, who recently told a nation-wide television audience:

“We have to come out and admit that we have a problem with extremism... it’s a movement that’s been growing for twenty years throughout the entire Muslim world.”  Nawash further claimed that as many as fifty percent of Muslims around the world support the goals of the extremists.  (Flash Factor, 8/5/04)  He’s saying 600 million people support terror!

Indeed, who should know terror better than Jews and Christians? In the midst of their campaign, these demonic hordes are slaughtering nearly 300,000 Christians and Jews every single year, all over the world.  This killing started long before the recent wars and campaigns – this killing started at the very start.

Though we as Messianic disciples must endure until the end, the martyrs’ cup is bloodied to the brim even now.  Time is up.  Six thousand years have passed.  We have thus far been spared the “shedding of blood” (Hebrews 12:4).  ¿Why have we been spared?  Indeed, why have we not even been touched?

Think about why.  And think about why in regards to the signs of our times.  Have we not been touched because there’s something we should be doing?  And just what is it that we, the seeing generation, should be doing while this great tribulation drowns our brothers and sisters – Christians, Jews and Muslims – men, women and children – in innocent blood?
